The Most Valuable Player award goes to Aaron Judge this year.
The 30-year-old garnered 28 first-place votes, which allowed him to win the prize and defeat Shohei Ohtani, a superstar for the Los Angeles Angels, and Yordan Alvarez, a slugger for the Houston Astros.
In reference to the beginning of the day, Judge stated, “I was quite nervous.” “Those two guys (Alvarez and Ohtani) both had tremendous years,” Alvarez said.
Judge, who finished in second place for the award in 2017, is coming off of a remarkable season in which he set new records for the American League and the New York Yankees in terms of the number of home runs scored in a single season. Judge hit 62 home runs. In addition, he led the American League in runs, RBIs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging, OPS, and wins above replacement.
He is the first player for the Yankees to win the award since Alex Rodriguez in 2007, and the first outfielder for the Yankees to win the award since Mickey Mantle in 1962.
“When you’re a kid, you dream about it to be at this moment and share this experience but you never genuinely think it’s going to happen,” Judge said. “You never actually think it’s going to happen.” “Over the course of the year, it takes a lot of dedication and effort, as well as a lot of love and support from family, friends, and teammates.”

Judge, who turned down an extension offer from the Yankees
Worth $213.5 million before the 2022 season, is the most desirable player available for free agency this offseason.
Ohtani was unable to successfully defend his championship despite having perhaps a better season than the one in which he won the MVP award in 2021. At the plate, the two-way standout hit 34 home runs and posted an OPS of.875, while on the mound he produced a 2.33 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 219 strikeouts over the course of 166 innings pitched. He received a total of four votes and ended in fourth place.
The Los Angeles chapter was represented by both of the voters who placed Ohtani in the top spot on their ballots.
